If I as RMD, fell on hard times, lost my fame and fortune, became helpless and hopeless, will you show any sympathy?

I ask, not because I do not know the answers but so that he that has ears will hear and hopefully learn a thing or maybe, two.

In your desire to be loved and accepted, it is important to ask ourselves how much of the love and admiration thrown at you are genuine.

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Abuja Chapter has vowed not to suspend the ongoing strike action until their demands are met.

Recall that the Union embarked on a nationwide strike on December 4th, 2017 over federal government failure to implement the 2009 agreement and since then are yet to resolve the issue.

The branch chairman of NASU, University of Abuja, Mr Yakubu Simon said in Abuja yesterday said, the refusal of government in paying the allowances agreed upon, especially, the earn allowance is the most pressing issue that prompted the strike. Simon said the Union has some percentage that is left with the government.

“Earlier on they said 28 per cent so when they send in N23 billion to invest in state target of ASUU academic earn allowance which is not supposed to be so, the payment did not favour us.

“All of us submitted our competition on this earns allowance and in the course they went and give the payment in favour of ASUU, that is why our national called that we should embark on immediate and indefinite strike after communicating the federal government.

“So our strike is still on, last week we had meeting in town and they briefed us how far they have gone with the federal government.”

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the killing of notorious leader of a kidnap-armed robbery gang, known as Ezenwa Collins, a.k.a E-Money and the arrest of his members.

E-Money was killed during a gun duel with the police at Atta in Ikeduru L.G.A of the state.

The former police officer-turned armed robber, and two members of his gang were shot dead by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) during a robbery operation in Imo State on Saturday, January 27.

In a statement, Wednesday, by the spokesperson of the command, SP Andrew Enwerem, the police said SARS operatives smashed the gang following the arrest of one Chibuzor Uche, 19, and Onyekachi Okorom, 36.

“Following the kidnap of one Hon Chief Linus Anyaghara ‘m’ 52yrs, his driver Cosmi Mbachu ‘m’ and one Vitalis Ogohe ‘m’ 58yrs and the robbery of his Toyota Sequoia jeep on 13/12/2017 and the subsequent kidnap of one Obinwanne Agugum who returned from South Africa and his driver Chima on 13/01/2018 respectively, the Commissioner of Police CP Chris Ezike charged the operatives of the command to work assiduously to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime,” the statement reads.

“The concerted efforts of operatives of the Command Federal SARS paid off leading to the arrest of the following suspects one Chibuzor Uche ‘m’ 19yrs and Onyekachi Okorom ‘m’ 36yrs with the robbed Toyota Sequoia jeep. During interrogation, the suspects mentioned one Chitachi Ogbonna aka Nwaotu ‘m’ 24yrs and one Chidera Nzeagwu aka Pharoah ‘m’ 36yrs as their cohorts in the crime.”

“In a reconstructive investigation, the arrested suspects disclosed the leader of their gang referred simply as their chairman and subsequently led SARS operatives to their detention facility at Atta in Ikeduru L.G.A where they disclosed the chairman of their gang and other members of the syndicate could be found.”

“One of the suspects Chinwedum Sylvester Ahalaonu led the operatives to their hideout. On sighting the operatives, their chairman and two others engaged the operatives in a shoot out.

During the encounter, the three suspects were fatally gunned down and were later confirmed dead.

President Muhammadu Buhari says it is not true that he has done nothing to resolve the crisis between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Benue State.

This is contained in Buhari’s letter to the Senate.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki read it to his collegeaues on Wednesday.

The President was quoted as saying the police, on his directive, is working “strenuously” to apprehend those behind the killings in Benue State.

The letter reads,“I thank you for your letter referenced NASS/8S/R/01/33 dated 18th January 2018 and carefully studied the resolutions and comments there in. As I briefed you and the RT. Hon speaker when we met, several courses of action have been taken prior to the senate resolution.

“You may recall that I told you of the following steps taken as soon as the information came in to me about the Benue killings. One, on Thursday 4th January, I sent the minister of interior and the deputy inspector-general of police in charge of operations for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.

“Two, on Friday 5th January, the inspector-general of police briefed me verbally on the latest situation, calm had then been restored.

“Three, on Monday 8th, the minister of interior met with the following, governors of Adamawa, Kaduna, Niger, Benue Taraba and Nasarawa together with the DG of the State Security Services, inspector-general of police, CG civil defence, minister of agriculture and rural development and police commissioner of the six aforementioned states.

“After the meeting instructed the minister of interior to brief you on the information gathered so far and steps taken. On Tuesday, 9th of January, at a session with governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state during which in informed of police arrests of some suspects. In addition, I told him that have instructed to speed up trial of the suspects and give wide publicity of the police efforts.

At the instance of the governor, a meeting was held in the presidential villa on 15th with a wide cross-section of Benue personalities and frank and open discussions were held. Everybody appreciated the difficulties of this farmers-herders strife. I assured all of my commitment and assured justice would be done.

“To infer therefore that nothing has been done, is incorrect. The police are strenuously working to apprehend the rest of the culprits of these heartless killings.

“Furthermore, I have instructed the IGP to relocate to Benue state and redeploy forces to the most sensitive towns. The federal government is initiating measures to address these and other security challenges, alleviate the consequence of these attacks and forestall reoccurrence.

“On December 19 to be precise, while receiving the report of the committee that was set up to review the technical and administrative structure of the NIA, I underscored the need review the entire national security architecture as I promised in my inaugural address on the 29th May 2015, action is being initiated to receive maximum cooperation from the senate in line with paragraph three of the senate resolutions

The trailer is reported to have hit the okada conveying a woman and her baby, killing the baby and injuring the mother in the process.

The trailer thereafter plunged into the river with the head hanging on the covets. It was gathered that the accident was caused by loss of control by the driver of the trailer.

The driver, his conductor and a passenger is believed to have plunged into the river alongside the head of the trailer.
